Common questions and answers about CBD products and oils

What is CBD?

CBD is a chemical compound or cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. CBD is not intoxicating. Different cannabinoids have been discovered more than 100 hemps in total, all of which have a unique effect.

Cannabinoids affect e.g. through the endocannabinoid system and to almost all physiological processes in the body of humans and animals.

CBD is often sought for help with stress and anxiety and general maintenance of well-being. CBD has many other well-researched benefits, including:

  1. pain reduction
  2. reducing inflammation
  3. improving appetite
  4. preventing the growth of cancer cells
  5. protecting cells, tissues and organs from oxidation
What are the most common effects for which CBD is used?

The most common effects aimed at using CBD oil are:

  • Relaxation and calming down
  • Enhancing presence and grounding
  • Stress relief
  • Relieving anxiety and depression
  • Facilitating sleep and improving deep sleep
  • Alleviation of inflammation and inflammatory pain
  • Pain relief
  • Prevention and reduction of convulsions

How is CBD oil used and dosed?

Internally, CBD oil is used and pipetted under the tongue, or into fatty foods. The dissolution of CBD oil through the submucosal glands allows CBD to enter the bloodstream more efficiently.

Externally, CBD oil is applied and administered directly to the skin, or in combination with skin oil or favorite cosmetics.

CBD oils are available in different strengths. e.g 5% CBD oil has 500mg of CBD. One drop of 5% CBD oil contains 2.5mg of CBD.

10ml of CBD oil contains 200 drops regardless of the manufacturer or seller.

What is the difference between crude extracted and activated oils?

Raw vs. Activated Oils:

Activation, or decarboxylation, converts acid cannabinoids (CBD-A, CBG-A, THC-A, etc.) into neutral cannabinoids (CBD, CBG, THC, etc.).

Activated CBD products contain less CBD-A in particular, which has been converted to CBD by activation.

Raw extracted CBD products have a more natural full spectrum , i.e. more compounds from the whole hemp plant.

In general, it seems that CBD-A has a slightly more stimulating and mood-enhancing effect. CBD, on the other hand, has a more calming and relaxing effect compared to CBD-A.

CBG is said to increase concentration and CBN as a sleep cannabinoid.

The differences in effects are based on different cannabinoid concentrations:

More than 120 cannabinoids have been identified in hemp. Each cannabinoid has its own effects and partly the same effects. The difference in how each cannabinoid affects each person is very individual. Why? Human bodies work individually, just like the balance state of our internal cannabinoid system .

What is CBD oil?
How are CBD oils different?
  • CBD oils there are differences in strengths and cannabinoid concentrations. CBD concentrations are generally described as either percentages or milligrams.
  • In addition to cannabidiol, raw extracted CBDA/CBD oils contain cannabidiol acid (CBDA), which is a precursor to CBD.

CBG oils contain not only CBD but also added CBG and CBN extract. Read more about the topic CBG or cannabigerol and CBN or cannabinol .

Can you get intoxicating effects from CBD oil??

Does CBD interact with medications?
  • CBD can interact with medications.
  • CBD can affect the absorption, distribution, metabolism or excretion of drugs.

  • In general, it can be said that it is worth starting with mild doses. In addition, with a 5-6 hour difference between the prescription drug and CBD, you can start trying the benefits of CBD and whether there will be negative interactions.

  • When in doubt about CBD or the use of CBD, always consult a doctor. Do not substitute prescription medications without first asking your doctor.

  • Further research is needed on drug interactions. You can read more about the possible joint effects at the back of this link:

CBD oil effects, side effects, safety and legality

What is the impact of CBD oil based on?

The effects of CBD oil are primarily in cannabinoids, which together and individually, directly or indirectly, balance the body’s endocannabinoid system.

CBD oil also contains other compounds that promote body health, such as terpenes, flavonoids, cannabisins, and in some cases small amounts of leafy green and omega fatty acids.

The endocannabinoid system is one of the largest human receptor networks. Its purpose is to maintain balance in the various systems of the body by slowing down and speeding up processes as needed.

According to the U.S. Department of Health, the endocannabinoid system is associated with almost all human diseases.

Does CBD oil have side effects?

CBD oil has no serious side effects. CBD is also not dangerous even at high doses. The higher the dose of CBD oil, the stronger the sedative effect. Fatigue is one of the most common side effects of CBD.

Other side effects include dry mouth, lower blood pressure and changes in appetite. Dry mouth is a common side effect and is facilitated by simply drinking more water.

The change in appetite may be an increased appetite, or a decrease in it. In general, the endocannabinoid system tends to maintain the body’s homeostasis (the appropriate balance of the body’s physiological processes), so a change in appetite may also be beneficial. However, if you experience these effects as negative, then it is advisable to reduce the intake of CBD oil until your appetite is restored. You can then increase the dose again if needed.

Also, especially for beginners, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Taking too much can, in extreme cases, cause dizziness, headache, diarrhea, loss of appetite and excessive tiredness.

Aloittelijoiden ja hyvin herkkien ihmisten on hyvä aloittaa pienillä 1-6 tipan annoksilla 1-10%:sesta öljystä ja nostaa annosta pikkuhiljaa tarpeen mukaan.

What time of day is the best time to take CBD oil drops?

It depends on the need.

If you want to get a better night’s sleep and relax, as well as calm your body before going to bed, the best time to take CBD is about an hour before going to bed.

If you want help with mood, pain or stress, then the best time to take CBD is in the morning or during the day, when the need arises.

Can CBD oil be used at the same time as prescription drugs?

CBD oil may significantly increase or decrease the effectiveness of certain drugs because cannabinoids interact with liver enzymes. If prescription drugs and CBD products are being used or are going to be used at the same time, the list of medicines that interact with the CBD should be reviewed and discussed with your doctor.

Some people may have health problems with their blood pressure, and even a small drop in blood pressure can be significant. If you are taking or plan to take prescription medicines for high blood pressure while taking CBD products, you should check if the medicine is on the list of medicines that interact with CBD and it is important to talk to your doctor first.

NOTE! The list is not complete and there may be interactions with other medicines in addition to those listed.

Questions and answers about CBDa and CBD in general

What is CBDa?
What are cannabinoids?
  • Cannabinoids are a group of compounds originally found in hemp, but they refer to all compounds associated with endocannabinoid system (Z. Fisar. 2009; AC. Howlett et al. 2002; DM. Lambert et al. 2005). These include phytocannabinoids, ie external cannabinoids, endocannabinoids, i.e. internal cannabinoids, and synthetic laboratory produced cannabinoids. More than a hundred different types of external cannabinoids have been found in hemp. In total, hemp contains about 489 different compounds (N. Happyana et al. 2013).
Is CBDa the same thing as CBD?
  • CBDa (cannabidiol acid) is a precursor to CBD (cannabidiol) as it is in fresh hemp.
  • CBDa is transformed into CBD by time and heat.
What is CBD oil?
  • CBD oil is not intoxicating at all because it is usually made from industrial fiber or oil hemp varieties containing less than 0.2% THC, which produce more CBD and other cannabinoids than THC.

  • CBD oil is a mixture of cannabinoid-rich hemp extract and a carrier oil (such as MCT oil from coconut)
  • The cannabinoid-rich extract is mixed with various vegetable fats that act as a carrier for the active ingredients to facilitate dosing and absorption.
  • CBD oil is sold in pipette bottles that facilitate the taking of suitable dosage sizes and is used 1-12 drops at a time depending on the intended use.

Can CBD be used together with medications?
  • We do not recommend the use of calcium channel blockers and anticoagulants in combination with CBD products, as some studies suggest that high levels of CBD may affect the efficacy and absorption of certain drugs. Further research is needed on drug interactions. More information on drug interactions can be found here >
Should CBD products be stored in the refrigerator?
  • Oil-based CBD oils are best kept dry and cool.
  • We recommend storing opened products at room temperature, so that moisture does not form inside, for example from the refrigerator.

  • CBD cosmetics are best stored in a dry and cool place, protected from sunlight
How are CBD oils different?

Is CBD safe for pets?
  • It is also safe to give CBD to domestic animals.
  • The endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is affected by CBD and other cannabinoids, is found in almost all animals, except protozoa and insects.
  • Because of ECS, even your pets benefit from using CBD oil.
  • Finding the right dose for your pet may take time and observation. Take into account the condition and weight of your pet. Order CBD products for animals from a reliable seller.
  • The instructions are not an official recommendation, so we recommend that you consult a veterinarian before starting to use CBD to make sure it is safe.
  • Read more about CBD dosing for dogs and mammals.
How much CBD can I give my dog?
  • There is as yet no official standard for the administration of CBD to dogs or pets.
  • Although your dog’s weight will not always correlate with how much CBD is needed, it is a good starting point for determining the appropriate dose.
  • We recommend starting with the lowest dose of 1 mg CBD for every 5 pounds of body weight.
  • Sometimes conditions require higher doses of CBD. If your dog's condition is more severe, you may want to consider a higher dose such as 2-5 mg CBD / 5 kg body weight once or several times a day. Read more about dosing from here .
  • Determining the correct dose of CBD for your dog may take some time and require monitoring. Always consider the weight and condition of your dog, and get your CBD product from a reliable vendor.
  • These instructions are not an official recommendation, so we recommend that you contact your veterinarian before use to confirm this.
Can CBD products have intoxicating effects??
  • Products made from CBD and CBDa have no intoxicating effects at all. The main intoxicating compound in hemp and medical cannabis is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
  • CBDa products are made from industrial useful hemp that does not contain narcotic amounts of THC (always below the EU approved 0.2% limit).
  • THC is only found in varieties specially bred for medicinal cannabis.

Are CBD products free of contamination and heavy metals?
  • All products sold in the online store have been tested to be free of heavy metals and other possible contamination.
  • Each product is analyzed in a third-party laboratory to ensure purity.

How is CBD oil made?

CBD oil is prepared by mixing CBD extract and carrier oil made from vegetable fats.

CBD extract can be prepared by many different techniques. In general, all CBD extraction techniques require the use of solvents. These solvents are important because they effectively separate CBD and other cannabinoids from plant material. The solvent is then evaporated and only pure CBD extract oil remains.

There are several different extraction methods for CBD and the most used are alcohol extraction, butane extraction (BHO) and supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (CO2).

The carrier oil acts as a component to facilitate the dosing and absorption of the active ingredients because CBD and other cannabinodes are fat-soluble.

Read more about making CBD oil

How does CO2 extraction take place and why is it the safest and most popular?

CO2 extraction (supercritical carbon dioxide) is widely used in the pharmaceutical, food supplement and cosmetics industries. CO2 extraction takes place in a closed loop system.

The hemp plant material is placed in a chamber which is then filled with carbon dioxide. By adding pressure to the chamber, carbon dioxide is converted into a liquid, which then absorbs the fat-soluble compounds and aromas of hemp. The end result is a liquid made up of carbon dioxide and the natural compounds of hemp. This liquid is pumped into the final chamber where the carbon dioxide is converted back to gas.

The result is a 100% pure, safe and effective CBD extract.

If the CO2-extracted CBD extract is made into a CBD isolate or stronger distillates, it must typically be further purified with an alcoholic extract.

Should CBD products be stored in the refrigerator?
  • Oil-based CBD oils are best stored in a dry and cool place protected from sunlight.
  • We recommend storing opened products at room temperature, so that moisture does not form inside, for example from the refrigerator.

  • CBD cosmetics are best stored in a dry and cool place, protected from sunlight.
How to identify the highest quality CBD oil?

The highest quality CBD oils are:

  • analyzed by a third party
  • packed in a dark / black glass bottle or Miron glass bottle for protection against light
  • clearly marked for the extraction method used
  • made from a hand-picked crop, as a 100% mold-free crop guarantees quality and safety (therefore no need to filter CBD oil)
  • the more hemp varieties it is made from, the richer the effect
What is a full spectrum CBD oil?

Full Spectrum means that the CBD oil in question contains all the compounds naturally present in hemp (cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids).

The full spectrum of CBD oil has a richer effect, i.e. the so-called entourage effect. Cannabinoids and terpenes act differently with other cannabinoids, with varying concentrations.
